About Chitra Narayanan

My research experience is in the field of computational chemistry and biophysics. For my doctoral research, I investigated the conformational characteristics of the intrinsically disordered protein alpha-synuclein, which is implicated in the pathology of Parkinson's disease. My current research interests are in three main areas: 1) enzyme engineering for production of sustainable aviation fuel, 2) design and development of novel antimicrobial peptides, and 3) determining the effect of air pollutants on the aggregation of alpha-synuclein and pathology of Parkinson's disease.
