Being an Applied Linguist for the past 30 years, I have observed how Reading for Pleasure is a real educational game changer. Reading for Pleasure does not only impact language scores but overall academic scores and workplace excellence in the global economy. This is because Reading for Pleasure does not only provide entertainment, but social, cultural, general knowledge as well as life skills. Education systems often focus on the 'How' to read but invest much less time and money on developing students into avid, proficient and lifelong readers. Most of my work is centered around this. I carry out reading projects , conduct reading workshops and have also authored story books.
