I am a Toronto-based journalist with a deep passion for immigrant relations and international affairs. I am a freelance writer at Metroland Media Group, covering a range of topics with a focus on immigration. I am also a member organizer with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE). I was honoured to be crowned Ms. Canada World Second Runner-Up this year. I am a strong advocate for immigrant employment rights and equality. I graduated from Centennial College in Toronto, where I hold a postgraduate certificate in Advanced Television and Film – Script to Screen. Additionally, I have completed a Journalism Essentials program at the University of Toronto. My journey in media began in India, where I spent six years in full-time roles at Asianet News and Manorama News TV, gaining extensive experience in broadcast, digital, print, and social media. At Asianet News, I contributed to the Tokyo Olympics coverage, pitching story ideas, determining lineups, and developing programs that resonated with local and global audiences. At Manorama News, I played an integral role in news production, from field reporting to anchoring breaking news and daily newscasts across time zones. My work was recognized with a provincial award for Best News Reporter from the Government of India in 2015.With a background in content creation across various media platforms and a dedication to social causes, I strive to bring impactful stories and authentic representation to every project I undertake.
