In this position, I help Dr. Marina Gelfand’s current forensic psychology students navigate the class by being available to answer questions during/after weekly lectures, hosting review sessions prior to exams, and remaining an anytime point of contact for student inquiries through email. In addition, I administrate and proctor exams of 350+ students.

In this position, I will be assisting with and contributing to research projects having to do with topics in social psychology, such as social and cyber-social contagions, religious prejudice, viewpoint and political diversity, implicit stereotypes and attitudes, extremism and authoritarianism, radicalization, self-injurious or suicidal behavior, research replication and scientific integrity, mental health stigmatization, etc. In addition to contributing to ongoing research projects within the lab, I am currently working alongside one of the lab's graduate students to pioneer a research project having to do with understanding mental health stigmas in diverse communities. I look forward to strengthening my skills in research, data collection, and data analysis through this position.

In this position, I was responsible for observing and assisting with daily operations of the Child and Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Unit, which is a program for 13-17 year olds who require intensive levels of care for their mental health. My responsibilities included completing daily check-ins with the patients in order to assess their current mood and psychological state and to make sure they do not pose a risk to themselves or others. I was also responsible for creating and leading psycho-educational lessons and activities to educate the patients and teach them coping skills.

I also conducted outreach to community partners, including churches, schools, and other organizations, to disseminate program information and to create new partnerships. As a mentor in the Peer Leadership Mentor Program, I mentored and engaged a group of 6 first-year students to help foster growth and success during the their first year of college. As their mentor, I was responsible for guiding my mentees through academic and personal hardships. I worked to introduce my mentees to various academic resources at Rutgers and encouraged their involvement in student organizations. Alongside the mentoring relationships, I also participated in a bi-weekly seminar focused on community organizing, group dynamics, social consciousness, and emotional intelligence to learn to effectively represent, advocate for, and lead my peers in the college environment.
