Flood Hazard Assessment with Multi-Mission Satellite Earth Observation for Enhancing Climate Risk Resilience

Created a Python algorithm to automatically detect the infiltration capacity of urban areas from satellite imagery. This project involves utilizing a variety of satellite remote sensing, GIS applications, hydrological equations and hydraulic numerical models for identifying, simulating and evaluating how urban green spaces and their management enhance the quality of urban environments.

- Conducted geomorphometric analyses in ArcGIS to characterize slopes that failed during the Alex Storm in Alpes-Maritimes, France, on October 2nd, 2020- Geomorphometric analyses summarized in an extensive final report- Worked with the francophone Cerema team in weekly meetings and occasional trips to the field

- Conducted field and laboratory tests on soil and concrete- Interpreted engineering and construction plans and technical reports- Maintained consistent communication between contractors, other technicians, and project managers

- Prepare ongoing composition of senior thesis to research flow dynamics in rhyolitic volcanic systems- Design experiments utilizing Scanning Electron Microscopy to gain data to analyze for pre-eruptive and eruptive temperatures, pressures and ascent rates

- Selected to participate in Keck Geology Consortium, a national research group focusing on undergraduate research and publication- Used field methods for igneous petrology and structure on multiple lava domes from the Mono-Inyo volcanic chain

- Gained working knowledge of the drilling and completions processes in the Gulf of Mexico on an offshore drillship during multiple 21-day hitches- Assisted in maintenance, repairs and pressure testing to blowout preventer and lower marine riser package- Functioned blowout preventer and lined up manifold during fracking operation- Gave presentation over offshore experience to approximately 20 Transocean executives and participated in technical drilling Q&A with executives

- Handled daily sales transactions and managed cash/credit card settlements in amounts up to $2,000 at the end of each shift- Facilitated workflow and minimized safety hazards for catering clients that averaged around 200 sales- Resolved customer complaints in a courteous manner and multitasked between baking, serving, and taking orders efficiently
