Senior Policy Advisor at the New Zealand Space AgencyThe Space Policy unit is responsible for delivering strategic analysis and advice on the opportunities, risks and role of government associated with the use of space from New Zealand. This involves:•Conducting strategic analysis on key issues and providing advice to government regarding the use of space•leading international engagement and negotiations on regulation, and global rules and norms in the use of space•establishing regulatory cooperation agreements with the relevant overseas agencies•supporting the implementation of the OSHAA in line with its overarching principles by providing policy advice and guidance as required•Maintaining awareness of emerging issues in the international space sector.•Leading the development of the New Zealand Space Strategy and its implementation•leading outreach policy and delivering initiatives to engage the public with New Zealand’s growing space sector and with the New Zealand Space Agency •negotiating overarching bilateral partnerships

Policy Advisor - National Security and International Policy I lead and contribute to work across a wide variety of subject matters including: - Police policy lead for delivering the Anti-Money Laundering Counter-Financing of Terrorism Act review with a focus on Virtual Assets, Cryptocurrencies, Prescribed Transactions, general reporting and New and Emerging Technologies. -Policy analysis and stewardship of Recommendation 18 of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the March 15 Terrorist Attacks.- Policy work and workshop development for the Transnational Organised Crime Strategy and adjacent border, refugee and trafficking concerns. - Developing emerging technologies principles and strategies for New Zealand's approach to Critical and Emerging Technologies.- Assisting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on Lethal Autonomous Weapons policy.- New Zealand-Australia liaison for the Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency (ANZPAA).- Working on Cyber Security policy regarding encryption and ransomware issues. - International Five Eyes Research and Development group member and policy development for drone technology and regulatory drone policy. - Firearm Prohibition Order Bill programme drafting and reporting.A significant key point of work was the AML/CFT review in partnership with the Ministry of Justice. My role involved drafting cabinet papers, public consultation documents and submissions analysis, drafting options analysis, privacy impact assessments, Departmental Reports, and presenting to working groups and industry.I had a key role in the development of the Public Consultation document (attached). I continued to lead this work for Police as recommendations were finalised and submitted to Ministers for approval.
