Ever since I was young I have taken care of animals. Whether it was my pets (dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, fish, etc), wild animals in my backyard, visiting farm animals, or taking care of animals throughout my education. I decided to focus solely on learning about their behavior after working in an agricultural high school program specializing in small animals. I have had various good experiences from it and further wanted to study Animal Behavior in college. College opened up an even larger pool of information and intrigue in that there are many unanswered questions and points of research to be done on animal behavior, social behavior, intelligence, personality, and much more. I have always felt a natural curiosity toward questions unexplained and the field of animal behavior encourages asking questions and delving further into research about why something is the way it is. While I learned more and more about animals I was also working with children. I have always felt that children are such an important group of people that many don't realize they are impacting on a day-to-day basis. I worked at many summer camps, children's events, etc., and the main reason I have continued is because I find it both fulfilling and comforting. I prefer being the one to support their futures because I know that I care and am aware of the impact I make on their lives. When I was younger I felt that adults would often overlook a child's feelings or situation because they only look at it from an adult point of view, trying to reach a goal without realizing the pain they are causing them. Rather than trying to make the experience focused on the child's well-being, enjoyment, and future.I am currently working in a combination of these two aspects, educating children at a museum while working within an animal sanctuary. With this being said, I am still unsure of my future as many of us are. I love to work creatively and am open to new career paths beyond what I have explored already. Ideally, I look for a position that allows me to work on a variety of projects that I find fulfilling and impactful without draining me mentally/physically.
