I create rosters for carers and clients in an elderly domiciliary care setting. I also have out of hours duties that include responding to an emergency telephone line.

My responsibility was to ensure all the people we supported had person centred support at their chosen or required times of the day. I created rosters that met the contracted hours for staff and the commissioned hours for the people we support. I recorded sickness and annual leave and tracked unallocated support shifts to send to bank staff to cover in a timely manner. I helped to track and book support workers’ classroom training and I supported them with E-learning. I assisted staff with accessing their online payslips. I supported the service manager with recruitment, interviews, payroll, disciplinary investigations and sickness reviews. When I was on call it was my responsibility to offer telephone support, take emergency out of hour calls and respond as necessary. I provided a professional telephone service to the people we support, their families and other professionals. I was commended for my commitment and dedication which was recognised by the Director, CEO and board of Trustees.

My duties were to provide a cashiering service to customers, to arrange and book appointments in branch diaries, and to complete administrative banking tasks and daily safety procedures accurately. Dealing with a range of customers, I handled general queries and complaints face to face and over the phone. At senior cashier level, I was trained to support in managing the cashier team, control access to the vault, authorise large transactions, monitor daily controls and open and close the branch.

As a temporary member of staff I was appointed Commercial Administrator, a position on the Implementation Management Team. I helped with the process of taking on new hospitals for the company demonstrating my commercial sense and ability to manage figures. I had to liaise with hospitals after tendering for business to start and then maintain their contract with us. On a daily basis I was in contact with healthcare professionals and hospital patients.

I went travelling through Australia, South East Asia, India and Africa. My inspiration to travel spurred from my fascination in culture, religion and anthropology. My favourite experiences included volunteer work with children in the North of Thailand and camping in the wild in Africa. Keeping a travel journal and an online blog detailing my experiences with people from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures became a hobby of mine whilst away.
