Chloe Gonzalez is a freshman at UC San Diego, in La Jolla, California, and is planning to major in Mechanical Engineering. She is a dedicated and hardworking student who has a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). In addition to completing rigorous Honors and AP coursework, she has completed three engineering Project Lead the Way (PLTW) classes and is currently enrolled in Engineering Design and Development, a course where students utilize the technology and skills from prior coursework to critically analyze, problem-solve, and prototype a solution to a real-world problem.Chloe worked as an Engineering Intern for Boeing Aerospace and Defense in El Segundo during the summer of 2023. She worked in Operations, completing assigned projects by her mentor. The internship allowed her to learn more about engineering disciplines in the engineering sector, while confirming her interest in a career in engineering.Chloe participated on the North High Swim Team as a varsity swimmer and was recognized as MVP for three years. Outside of school, Chloe has been swimming competitively for over ten years on USA Swimming club team, Swim Torrance. She has competed in meets both in and out of state, and is focused on swimming at the collegiate level.Chloe works as a swim coach for her club swim team, Swim Torrance, coaching swimmers between the ages of 5 and 13. Chloe helps young swimmers find confidence in all four strokes and taught them how to enjoy and find a passion for swimming. She is also a lifeguard with Red Cross for CPR and First Aid certification.Chloe loves traveling and has experiences cultures from Fiji to Cancun, Mexico- her favorite locations are tropical, where she can snorkel, paddleboard, and swim. She would love to continue to travel to as many countries as possible in the future. Chloe has a passion for photography, snowboarding, and surfing with her friends and family.
