As a doctor, I enjoy working and gaining experience in a wide variety of fields. Since registering as an independent practitioner, I have alternated working at various GP practices (private sector), Paediatric departments (public sector), and occasionally assisting in surgeries (private sector). I have completed both the Diploma in HIV Management (SA) and the Diploma in Child Health (SA). Due to the scenic route I have taken, I have had the privilege to navigate various aspects of both the public and private sectors. This has given me a better understanding of the range of career options available to doctors. Many young doctors soon started contacting me for advice as they started on their own journeys as independent practitioners.As the obvious need for mentorship beyond medical school became clearer, I decided to start SAdocs: the go-to online platforms where doctors in South Africa can find the practical information they need to navigate the various stages of their careers successfully. Since the beginning of SAdocs, I have had the privilege of growing a network consisting of various stakeholders in the medical space. I continue to expand my knowledge and skill, always with the aim of paying it forward to those doctors that could benefit from it. All my endeavours have taught me the need and ability to serve as a communicator between these stakeholders and doctors.
