I have recently graduated university with a BA Hons in Education Studies.I am a qualified paediatric first aider.I have gained my TEFL this summer in Thailand.I am working as a Substitute Teacher in a high school with ages 11-18years. This role involves delivering lessons and being able to adapt to different students everyday (abilities and skills). Sometimes it requires quick thinking to deliver a lesson or extension tasks that may not have been set. I have recently worked as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school, in a 2:1 position with a child who had severe dystonic cerebral palsy who was diagnosed with epilepsy.This job role required me to; adjust the curriculum to match the child’s abilities, planning and making the subjects accessible and more adaptable for the child’s needs in regards to their learning, use a hoist, peg feed, teach, plan, personal care, physiotherapy as well as assisting the classroom teacher, supporting other children in and around school and supporting the school as a whole.I have had in house training in; prescribing medication, epilepsy and SEN whilst working at this School.In my previous job I learnt how to look after and support adults with complex needs ranging from Autism to Epilepsy as well as making sure checks were done in regards to wheelchairs, temperature controls, maintaining postural care/support and safeguarding equipment.
