During my two years working with Arup, I was responsible for the tendering process of a number of private and commercial projects and I was the site supervisor for contaminated land projects as well as geotechnical projects. During my time as a site supervisor I oversaw trial pits, dynamic sampling, cable percussion and rotary drilling methods and groundwater well installation. I carried out detailed geo-environmental and geotechnical soil analysis and was involved in writing the land and soil chapters for a number of Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) for planning permission. Other tasks also included liaising directly with clients and contractors and management of multiple projects at once.

I did work experience in Priority Geotechnical Ltd in the summer of 2018 between my third year and final year. I worked in the office, lab and went out on site one day to see how the drills work and gather samples. Here I gained valuable knowledge about working in a geological company. I was given the responsibility such as: Core Logging,Soil sampling,Inputting data into a specific database,Particle Size Distribution test.Prepping hydrological test and Attenberg test,CBR testing,Moisture test,Recording important information. These jobs gave me skills such as: Time management, Trusting my own knowledge,Working on a database,Using my initiative.
