From ~2010 to 2020, I studied Culinary Arts and worked as a chef throughout the Carolinas. Having filled a number of leadership roles, typically as a Sous Chef or Kitchen Manager, the value of team building and collective innovation has been self-evident to me at each stage of my career. My time was mostly spent in smaller operations; I believe that I thrived in environments where high stakes demanded passion for our product, and the creativity necessary to market something truly unique.The pandemic has changed the industry permanently. For me, this was an opportunity to learn the importance of adaptation and growth, particularly having worked for so long in an industry that was long-overdue for an overhaul. In quarantine, I took advantage of open-source software and free (or nearly-fee) resources to learn everything I could about programming, with a focus on Python, as well as database languages like MySQL. Now, I'm excited to be adding new, more data-driven experiences to my skillset while still getting to work on my feet and be a direct part of the supply chain at Hellofresh.
