National Citizen Service is a voluntary personal and social development programme for 16–17 year olds in the UK, funded by the government and overseen by an independent trust. Worked as a senior mentor on a National Citizen Service programme, responsible for a team of 12 16-17-year-olds in a residential setting. Provided pastoral care for participants, ensuring their inclusion, safeguarding and general welfare while managing challenging behaviour. Developed and delivered personal development sessions and team-building activities. Supported guided reflection and mentored the development of the team's community social action project.

Working within a small strategy team to influence wider government objectives, including ensuring the 2015 Labour Party manifesto committed to the continuation of National Citizen Service and supporting an event with HRH The Prince of Wales, leading to the award of a Royal Charter. Working with community, parliamentary and private sector stakeholders to ensure strategic objectives reflected both their views, and those of young people. Using skilled communication to lead the engagement with a youth advisory board of 12 16-18 year olds from across the country, seeking their input on key issues and supporting them to further shape their ideas where appropriate.
