I worked as a summer student, assisting in the everyday operations of a busy medical office. My role consisted of receiving and answering faxes and phone calls, filing them appropriately, and helping with patient organization.

I worked as a summer engineering assistant for three summers. In this role, I worked directly under the head engineer for both Cargowall Ltd, a steel roll forming manufacturer, and for their solar division, Malina Solar Structures LLC. I was very involved in design; as such, much of my work was done using online modelling software including SolidWorks and AutoCAD. I was also involved in modelling fatigue using SolidWorks simulations, as well as designing and maintaining the Malina Solar website.

Through the Ryerson University Faculty of Engineering, I belonged to a team of young women who created content for a website tailored to sparking other young girls' interest in science and engineering. We conducted interviews, carried out research and wrote articles. This was a truly invaluable experience, as it was my first real exposure to engineering.
