I serve as an undergraduate research assistant under Dr. Matthew Voigt on the Queer Issues in STEM CI. I have worked with his graduate students to qualitatively analyze student interviews in MAXQDA and identify cross-cutting themes. We have presented on the material at the 2022 OSTEM Conference and at the 2023 FoCI Poster Session.

I serve as a Spanish, Calculus, and Materials Science tutor for Clemson University athletes. I help them to improve their study strategies and improve their understanding of class material.

I prepared a Design Change Package to upgrade the nuclear plant’s low-level fish strainer using NRC and ASME codes. I was able to conduct walk-downs to ensure long-lasting, economical solutions. Additionally, I collaborated with peers in Electrical and Systems Engineering to ensure that the Design Change worked well within its system.

The project I worked on was looking for a commercially produced vacuum pump oil which has a great enough radioactive hardness to be utilized in a nuclear fusion reactor like ITER. I studied the viability of surface tension, contact angle, and viscosity as metrics for radioactive hardness and conducted FTIR and NMR testing on vacuum pump oils at different stages of irradiation. This project was in conjunction with the Savannah River National Laboratory and the University of South Carolina and was funded by ARPA-E.
