After my internship with NTUC First Campus in my third year of Polytechnic, I was offered a full-time role as an Educator.In this role, I managed the classroom environment, analysed the children’s current development to develop activity plans and strategies to assist them with their areas of improvement, and maintained a positive relationship with my children, their families and my coworkers by utilising effective communication methods.This experience provided me insight into being a contributive employee in a workplace environment. In my role, I applied what I have learnt from my time in Polytechnic through initiative, dependability and knowledge of childhood development and teaching strategies.

I served my 3rd year internship with My First Skool for a duration of 5 months and worked with children aged 4 to 6.In my role, I carried out lessons, documented the students development, planned a field trips, and assisted with lessons and routines. From these experiences, I was able to hone my ability to take on the tasks of an educator.I had weekly meetings with my Mentor where I would reflect on my performance and how I could improve. With reflection and advice, I was able to grow as an educator and easily spot how I could adjust my teaching approaches and lesson planning. This helped me to further optimise the children's development and learning in and outside of school.

I assisted the Main Teacher on a weekly basis with carrying out language and drama programmes with 4 classes, ensuring that the classroom environment is safe and conducive, and carried out care routines for children aged between 2 to 6. I also prepared and organised classroom resources in preparation for the planned curriculum programmes.From my experiences, I have learnt how to incorporate drama sessions into literacy lesson plans as well as how to prepare effective resources for drama lessons.

I worked on a daily basis for a month, before working as a substitute teacher on certain days whilst I was schooling.I worked with children aged 7 to 12 and I was tasked with conducting tests, marking exercises, and aiding children with concepts they had difficulty grasping. As a result, all 14 students in my class achieved over 75% for their school tests. Through my first professional experience as an educator, I was able to pick up new skills from not only my experiences with my students, but from observing my supervisors as well. I learnt how to present a caring yet charismatic personality whilst interacting with my students and I learnt how to form good relationships with my fellow coworkers.
