About Chloe West
Double major 2024 Bachelor of Arts in Marine Affairs and Bachelor of Arts in Communications. I have a passion for and skills and experience in sustainability, environmentalism, leadership, and problem solving. My experiences in classes at the University of Rhode Island as well as jobs, internships, and volunteering have provided me with a well rounded background. I began working as a babysitter at age 13 which gave me a passion for helping children grow and learn. I continue to nanny and babysit for families that I have built and maintained long-term relationships with. I have worked throughout the restaurant industry in Newport, Rhode Island, as well as enjoyed many volunteer experiences at places like Clean Ocean Access, whom I also interned for. Being a Marine Affairs and Communications double major at URI has created the most interesting, exciting educational path I could have hoped for during my time in undergraduate school. Marine affairs has shown me many opportunities and goals I now have in my future career, and helped me develop a passion for the environment and educating people about it. The Communication curriculum has widened my public speaking, group leadership, and project management skills, all of which will translate well tomy future career. I am working towards graduation in May 2024, after which I plan to secure an environmentally-focused job working hands-on in either communication, education, or policy. I am driven by the potential of having a career making a difference and helping my community live sustainability.
