For three years I was Co-Director of the CalArts Digital Arts Expo, a school wide digital arts show that showcased the work of hundreds of digital artists each year. Full Stack Developer

Self-Employed

I was contracted by VT Pro Design to design and build a small web app for an in-store branding experience with Google and T-Mobile featuring Google Assistant enabled devices. I wrote a custom survey application to collect experience data from participants that would randomly distribute prizes. Using Python/Flask, SQL, Materialize, and P5.js, the app checks a database for available prizes then randomly awards prizes to users complete with WebGL confetti for the winners. A simple backend was created for both the developer and the in-store employees to access the winner's data, keep track of awarded prizes, and make updates to the prize database if needed. The installation ran from June-August in San Francisco and Chicago flagship T-Mobile stores.

As a member of the research and development Team at Kadenze Inc and as the Director of Grader Development I co-wrote and maintained a python library for the purposes of research in feature extraction and analysis tools for images, video, audio, text, and code. I wrote, tested, deployed, and maintained back-end server applications that processed grading criteria and submitted files for the purposes of automatic assessment. Regularly performed independent research and implemented a wide variety of feature extraction and parsing techniques for various file types. Worked directly with course instructors to port their in-class assignments to an online learning environment. Managed product lifespan alongside both the web engineering team and the content production team to ensure product was created, tested, and shipped on time. Assumed additional role as lead Product Manager to further the gathering of data and feedback to increase our product-market fit and deliver a better user experience. Spearheaded and implemented a user-centered design process using Google-based design sprints and user testing to increase the effectiveness of feature development process.

Oct 2013 - Apr 2018

Interactive Sound Programmer

Self-Employed

I was contracted by the design firm Vita Motus to help with the interaction and sound design for Redbull @ Night's presentation of Heather Shaw's "The Circuitry of Life." An amazing, two-night club experience held inside a projection mapped cube on top of a building in downtown Los Angeles. I worked on a team to help transform the three-story projection mapped cube into an interactive musical experience by designing interactions and writing code to translate touch data from over 100 users into a collection of instruments with localized sound on a massive speaker array. I also composed original backing tracks and sound design with custom synthesizers built in Reaktor.

Oct 2014 - Feb 2015

Lead Interaction Designer

Self-Employed

I was contracted by Art Center College of Design to consult and develop an interactive musical garden installation as part of a collaboration between Environmental Design students and the architecture firm Cloud 9. I performed research on using plants as touch sensors, creating an open-source library for Arduino in the process to perform swept frequency capacitive sensing called SweepingCapSense. I designed and programmed a system that transformed environmental data collected by a hydroponic system and custom electronics into a generative musical experience using Max/MSP, JavaScript, and Arduino.I also designed, printed, and built a custom PCB shield for Arduino to transform up to 16 plants into touch sensitive musical objects using Eagle CAD software.
