Hip-Hop dance company central to Philadelphia that presents Hip-Hop as concert dance. The company was founded by Artistic Director, Clyde Evans, Jr. in 2001 and has been featured at the ESPN X-Games, BET's 106 & Park and in the NFL's Super Bowl XL commercials. Their lastest work, From Tha Hip, is a theatrial play concieved and choreographed by Evans, and was produced in the fall of '06 by the Prince Music Theater. This work truly reflects the direction of the company which is more theatrical in presentation, and it's heart, which is to make Hip-Hop works that are accessible to audiences regardles of age, race, creed, gender or background - Chosen Dance...We are "Hip-Hop with a conscience".

I wrote in collaboration with Braodway playwrite, Albert Innurato, choreographed, and performed two roles in my first play "From the Hip" which was written to encourage kids about the importance and value of being themselves. From the Hip is a Hip-Hop dance story about a young boy from the islands, who migrates to the U.S. at the request of his father. The young boy, Colin Cole Jr. is extremely intelligent and is picked on because of this as well as his accent and cutlural differences. In his attempt to prevent further ridicule, Colin begins to adopt a thugish attitude which conflicts with his parental guidence and leads him down a distructive path. It's a race to save Colin Jr. as he struggles with being different, being respected, and being himself.

Principal dancer and founding member of Rennie Harris' Puremovement, mostly recognized for pioneering Hip-Hop dance in theaters around the world. I was mentored by Harris in teaching, performing, directing and leading others within a company structure.
