Robotics, Research And Development Intern
At HITT Contracting as a Robotics R&D intern, I focused on integrating robotics and 3D printing technologies into construction processes. Collaborating closely with industry professionals, I gained deep insights into technological advancements within the construction sector and witnessed firsthand the operational dynamics of construction management on-site.My role involved working extensively with cutting-edge technologies such as Boston Dynamics' Spot robot and Caracol's AM Heron 400. With Spot, I designed purpose-built 360-degree camera mounts and orchestrated waypoint configurations using DroneDeploy. This enabled efficient image capture and laser scanning, generating novel datasets that subcontractors can potentially utilize to enhance building efficiency and quality. I also gained valuable experience in large-format 3D printing through Caracol's innovative Heron 400 Kuka Arm, further expanding my expertise in advanced 3d printing methodologies and its potential uses in interior design. This internship not only enriched my technical skills but also provided invaluable insights into the collaborative relationship between human labor and robotics in modern construction practices as well as providing back to back problem solving opportunities.
