MCRI specializes in discoveries that transform child health, is the largest child health research institute in Australia, and in the top three child health research institutes worldwide for research quality and impact. The team of more than 1,200 researchers is dedicated to making discoveries to prevent and treat childhood conditions. Many of the researchers are also clinicians at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, where the Institute is based.My work at MCRI is with the Informatics team. I use machine learning, specifically natural language processing, to capture critical vaccine safety and effectiveness information from the text of clinical notes and from social media. I am contributing to business intelligence by constructing Power BI reports and SQL Server Analysis Services databases, leveraging my extensive DAX knowledge, and through data analysis. Additionally, I create custom Power BI visuals. I contribute to publications describing our work.
