I am Bioinformatician, Bioinformatics consultant and Data Scientist with 15+ years of experience. I am very proficient in all relevant aspects of data science: data management, analysis, processing, QC, visualization and summary for all kinds of bulk and single-cell / spatial NGS data (e.g., RNA-seq, ATAC-seq). More recently, I also started exploring the possibilities, applications and limitation of Deep Learning for biological questions, such as applying various single-cell foundational models.Throughout my career, I have been deeply involved in projects with significant disease context and relevance. My work has primarily focused on unraveling the mechanisms of disease and understanding the misregulation occurring from a gene regulation perspective. By leveraging advanced methodologies, I have contributed to identifying key pathways and regulatory networks that underpin various diseases, thereby enhancing our understanding of disease etiology and progression.Over the years, I worked together with many people with many different (cultural) backgrounds, including clinicians and medical doctors, immunologists and generally people from fields outside of biology.Data reproducibility and code readability are very important for me. I use bioinformatics workflow managers such as Snakemake whenever applicable, Git for version management, R and python for coding.I can rapidly code up complex custom data analysis pipelines and R scripts, and I am proficient in R/Bioconductor package development, finding potential issues and limitations in existing code, and I can provide guidance on algorithm choice, complexity and suitability. I also had some Deep Learning exposure.Over the years, I gave and attended many international courses & conferences.Orcid: 0000-0001-9088-4150https://github.com/chrarnold (most of my code is however deposited in an EMBL-specific Github at https://git.embl.de/grp-zaugg, for which I contributed many different projects and repositories)Contact me for any questions you may have.
