    Over a six-month period, I wrote my thesis while stationed at the Vestas headquarter in Aarhus. It was key to success, quickly to get involved with the right people and learn both the business of Vestas and in specific map, the process related to replacement of defective 2-MW gearboxes at Vestas. My thesis purpose was to access and study the Vestas hybrid manufacturing/ remanufacturing system of 2-MW gearboxes in Europe by investigating how reverse logistic theory relates to the process at Vestas and by using computer simulation modeling to find and assess Vestas current performance. Based on the completed research on the current state performance and the theoretical framework I proposed nine hypotheses to identify potential improvement areas. The constructed simulation model was used to analyzes the proposed hypotheses, and grounded basis of finding the process challenges and opportunities.
