Combined separate groups into a single division - traditional IT department maintaining legacy systems, Special Projects team that had been replacing legacy systems, a business improvement and ERP support unit from the Financial Services department, and later the Evidence section. The groups merged into a division that works well together providing a wide range of functions and services. On average, each year we manage a minimum of three large project initiatives (agency wide change and impact), twenty plus medium projects (department/division level change and impact), and fifty plus small projects (small workgroup level change and impact). These projects cover the entire spectrum of technology. Additionally, there are a number of non-IT roles performed such as personnel budgeting, managing multiple warehouse locations and logistic operations, large scale construction projects, and support for unique specialty operations, systems, and technologies.

Hired as part of three-person project team to replace the mainframe based legacy system infrastructure for Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), and advance the agency from paper-based processes in multiple other functions such as report writing, case management, evidence, warrants, civil process, traffic citations, crash reporting, etc. Initial primary role was dealing with all of the database, hardware, infrastructure, network, and systems administration. This involved developing new client software to work with the legacy mainframe systems, replacement of 1,200+ dumb terminal devices installed in cars with laptops, 24x7 training operations to train over 1,300 people, selection and replacement of emergency equipment and mounting systems in patrol vehicles, integration with legacy data infrastructure based on trunked radio, creation of high speed message switch software to facilitate communications between legacy and new technologies, managed RFP processes and implementation of new county wide wireless infrastructure, and implementation of new system infrastructure including DR capabilities.

Transitioned from being a consulting client into a full-time role of developing back office applications, creating new maintenance tracking systems, designing and creating wireless lap timing systems, managing the IT department, and development of a new in-car video system. Also managed the RFP and selection process for a new accounting system, implementation of the new accounting system across multiple separate businesses, and the RFP process for a new telephone system to better support call center operations.

Primary role was to support the implementation of the new Informix object relational database (version 9.x created by merging Informix 7.x with the acquired Illustra database technology). This involved supporting new projects, and customer migrations from different previous database systems including Informix, Illustra, and other legacy mainframe systems. Also began to support web application development on a high-profile project at a Fortune 50 corporation, creation of new datablade technologies for image processing and matching, and integration of geospatial mapping data systems. Provided guidance on creating and implementing several large-scale multimedia database systems for the storage of audio, photographs, and video at large media organizations.

Continued my consulting work at Walt Disney World and the Wide World of Sports project. Also become involved in several other projects including business intelligence systems for the Magic Kingdom, shipboard systems and data transfers for Disney Cruise Line, and design/development of new automation systems for logistics and warehousing. Sought out by a number of new clients that involved a variety of projects including the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), Richard Petty Driving Experience, and KForce.

Initially was trained and worked on programming in SAP (ABAP) to make modifications and create new custom applications for various customer implementations. Later began working on the creation and opening a new project at Walt Disney World - the Wide World of Sports. While on that project, I was also assigned a number of side projects involving database recovery, data recovery, and general consulting.

Initial role was development on an existing 4GL application, which later evolved into other hybrid roles involving networks, phones, and system administration. Designed and implemented the first network (Ethernet and TCP/IP) consisting of a WAN spanning 10 locations across the country, and multiple LANs in the locations. Next project was the design and installation of an entire new system involving new UNIX servers and GUI workstations. Replaced the phone systems in all locations across the entire organization. Implemented an IVR system for submission and approval of temporary employee work times from client sites thus eliminating data entry and paperwork.

Initial project of documenting all of the cabling (underground, in-building) and phone systems installed throughout the entire campus. Project’s primary purpose was replacing the entire cabling infrastructure and installing a large distributed phone system to allow USF to function as their own phone company and resell phone services. Role later morphed into managing a team performing the field surveys, database creation, developing interfaces, switch maintenance, creating a new telephone management suite of applications, and providing ongoing support for multiple other side projects.

Installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the electronics display systems which included full programmable logic switching controlled via a PC clone using a database for verification of equipment selections, relay chain switching, and various types of communication equipment used for demonstrating mobile electronics. Provided technical support in the Tampa Bay area including troubleshooting of unusual problems, installations requiring special skills, display support, and employee training in customer support and technical skills. Installation and maintenance of mobile electronics for customers with a focus on security systems and electronics in high-end vehicles.
