I returned to PSD for my 3rd and final co-op, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. I continued to work on my original project in Java. My familiarity with their product made me an excellent addition for a rewrite of their legacy application using Angular and NodeJS, as well as MongoDB.

Guelph, Ontario

For my 2nd co-op, I moved to Guelph to experience a more large-scale corporate environment. I contributed to multiple projects at the PowerCor facility, where the majority of the company's IT solutions are developed. I was personally tasked with rewriting a legacy application in React, to manage statistics for the company's 250+ facilities worldwide.

As my first co-op, initially I was only expected to assist in documentation and standard import scripts in SQL. I quickly became an integral part of the team, corresponding with municipal clients, and developing features in Java.

Born and raised in a small garden center just outside of Stratford, I have always been surrounded by the hustle and bustle of a small business. After completing my Horticulture diploma, I took on a management role, and worked with my family to develop and improve upon our business practices. Even after my departure, I continue to support my family's business. During the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, I personally migrated the business to their first cloud-based eCommerce store.

Haaren, Nord Brabant, Netherlands

The Netherlands offers a working-holiday visa for Canadians. I took this opportunity to learn from the professionals in the Horticultural capital of Europe, as well as learn the language, culture, and heritage of my family. I was fortunate in meeting a successful and ambitious business owner, who hired and mentored me during my stay in his country.
