Review, comprehend and comply with all SOPs, BOPs and quality assurance standards pertaining to laboratory animals for research. Monitor daily animal health and welfare while performing daily animal health observations.Perform animal husbandry duties to maintain quality and health of research animals, to include performing daily water bottle and cage checks; provide appropriate food and water; perform cage changing and/or cage cleaning as required; record animal health concerns per SOP and/or specified protocols.Dispose of biological, hazardous, and animal facility waste following established procedures.Perform humane euthanasia in accordance with the Guide for Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, the AVMA Guide on Euthanasia, and under the direction of the Attending Veterinarian, or designee.Report non-compliance or animal welfare concerns to the appropriate Animal Welfare Team member or IACUC office. Assist with restraint, handling and manipulation of various animal species as assigned by the on-site Facility Supervisor or VeterinarianPerform or obtain competency in non-invasive technical procedures as required, such as body weights, food and water intact measurements, animal identification (e.g., ear tagging), tissue collection, dosing administration (SC, IP, PO).Provide procedural mentoring to other staff as instructed by Facility Supervisor.

Perform blood draws including exsanguinations on specific species according to protocol and client request.Daily feeding of all species.Observation of animal health status.Perform various types of inoculations on all species with assistance pertaining to your work area.Cleaning of buildings, cages, walls, floors, and daily clean-up of designated work areas. Including barrier shower facility.Assist with the receiving of animals into the animal facility.Assist with the operation of the autoclave.Adhere to strict SOP’s, assist with review and update of applicable SOP’sGood documentation practices.Understand the care and husbandry requirements of the animals according to the GuideAssist with animal and supply inventoriesAssist with laundry detail for work area.Stock supplies for building.Assist with projects under the Bio-Safety Cabinet or laminar flow hood if applicableGRP training.Capable of working in ABSL-2 (Animal Biosafety Level 2) conditions if applicable

Perform animal husbandry (clean, feed, sanitation, enrichment, etc.) on a regular basis. Perform and document daily observations of animal health status and reporting any health issues Recognize animal behavior, health status and report to appropriate channels. Assist with the feeding of all animals. Perform sanitation of all equipment, assist with cage washing and tunnel washer Replacing animal pans/trays including removal waste and replacing bedding. Trays will weigh average of 50lbs. May perform animal identification tasks (tattoo, sex, ear tag, etc.). Comply with appropriate safety and health practices including personal protective equipment and barrier requirements, as applicable. Ability to work in a barrier laboratory setting including, this requires showering at the facility prior to entering barrier laboratory and showing after leaving the barrier environment May assist with shipping animals out of the facility
