I supported and improved a web application with roughly half a million users. My projects ranged from database design to UI programming to projects that required development across our entire stack. I enjoy the balance between improving existing functionality and designing new functionality.Our team struggled with how to improve or replace existing legacy code without losing forward momentum. I led our team in defining and implementing a peer review process. Since beginning the process our team caught many critical errors before they cost us in manual testing or customer relationships. The process also brought to the forefront the pain points in our existing code, allowing us to reduce technical debt and improve our development processes.As a security expert for our team, I brought best practices to our development process and evaluated and mitigated weaknesses. By improving our process, I helped our team identify issues before they became committed to our product.

The main challenge I faced here was maintaining focus and realistic goals to make progress both at work and in my classes simultaneously.As an intern, I was given multiple new projects that required self direction. I was asked to investigate and design new functionality for our site, requiring me to learn new skills and frameworks. I would then communicate and advise our team on the best approaches to implementing these new ideas.

I joined when we were beginning to update our healthcare agency management software to a new language. My first tasks were to build the UI for new pages. As we migrated to the .NET framework, I maintained the modules for capturing user data and generating medical reports.My largest challenge was to develop an application to process electronic data files. This was a standalone application that I helped design. Once the design phase was completed, I implemented our design on my own, as well as a licensing mechanism for the software and helped integrate the online store front we used to allow customers to purchase and activate the software themselves.

I was selected for this position during high school because of my coding proficiency. It was great to be responsible for the electronic presence of our school. While continuing to manage content from many programs, I also simplified our website's design for a better user experience. Additionally, I decoupled the design of the site from the content management system, migrating the design to languages that future students would be able to work in.
