For the past few months, I have been given the opportunity to gaining valuable work experience learning to develop my skills and knowledge as a second man, in the Fire and Security industry.Whilst doing this role, working alongside an experienced engineer, giving me a better understanding how addressable and conventional system operate. Being confident at isolating various panels, such as Gent, Morley, Protec, to perform testing and servicing duties. I have also helped upgrade an existing system, having being demonstrated how a panel should be installed, and self fitting of smoke, heat detectors and sounder beacons. I'm currently involved in an installation of a full system upgrade of a retirement home based in Chester. So far, I have help run cables through false ceilings and loft spaces, making sure the cables are secured appropriately, fitting detector bases and break glass units across 3 floors, drilling holes to feed cables to flats. In the coming weeks, I'm looking forward at helping to connecting the cabling to a new panel in order to get the system fully operational and commissioned.
