Assisted in the delivery of nature connection based retreats in various locations, including England, Scotland and Romania. Tasks would include helping with lead up preparations, such as site planning, general coordination and food menu creation. During events my role would vary between guide/ liaison, driver, chef and general site hand. I sometimes also join guests in activities and discussions, to help weave some of my own personality and perspective on the experience. Essentially my role is to add value to the situation in any way that made sense and to to help facilitate the lead guide/ guides as best I could. These events are focused on nurturing a group of people as part of a close knit team, which is a space I thoroughly enjoy.

I began in this role by setting up a new base for the company’s fast growing tour guiding operations, in a large rural industrial unit. This work initially consisted of creating an office area, Bike maintenance workshop, racking for a large fleet of bikes and organised storage areas for all the active tour guiding related equipment. One of the bigger tasks I was responsible for was building a new fleet of bikes for one of the biggest operators, ranging from hybrid and road, to top end e-bikes. Other maintenance related duties included managing a small fleet of vehicles and bike trailers, to ensue all safety requirements were met. The previous year I had assisted on several of the companies tours, giving me a good introduction and understanding of what is involved at the core of the business- guiding groups on cycle tours, walking tours and adventure holidays in the UK.
