Airtrain is an unlisted public company that is the operator of the Brisbane Airport Rail Link infrastructure. I was responsible for all aspects of the business including risk & safety, finance, commercial, operations, marketing and reported directly to Airtrain’s Board of Directors.The skills demonstrated within this position include - Ability to lead a team of professionals and manage external consultants (legal, financial auditors, safety auditors, insurance brokers, IT). Strategically position the business to maximise revenue growth whilst controlling operating expenses. Strong communication skills, particularly writing including the preparation of monthly Board paperssummarising the key issues facing the business with options provided to resolve these issues. Financial analysis skills used to understand and improve Airtrain’s performance. Commercial negotiating skills range from ticketing, land use, interface agreements and supplier agreements. I was responsible for the safety of the railway including the management of an auditable safety management system. I have strong knowledge of infrastructure management as Airtrain is an elevated rail structure. I negotiated and managed interface agreements to ensure the asset was protected. Management of an alliance relationship with Transfield Services including the negotiation of an annual budget, establishment and review of performance KPI’s, and ensuring all operations and maintenance is conducted within budget. I was responsible for managing Airtrain’s commercial relationship with Queensland Rail, Queensland Transport, Airtrain’s financiers, and Brisbane Airport Corporation.Major achievements include – Delivered profit growth of 450%. Ticketing revenue doubled and a market share grew 60%. Value of Airtrain more than doubled with three revaluations as a result of the revenue performance & financial management. Repaid all external debt ten years ahead of forecasts.
