A Corporate Tax Senior Manager at Haines Watts in the South East Midlands Region where I headed up the corporate tax and R&D tax team as well as working nationally to support other Haines Watts' offices in corporate tax advisory projects. My role covered all aspects of corporation tax and to drive the corporate tax division forward in Haines Watts whilst overseeing the compliance processes and building a corporate tax team.

World First is a fast growing, international Fin Tech company providing currency exchange and facilitating cash repatriation for private, corporate and e-Commerce clients.Seconded from KPMG as the group's first in-house tax professional to bridge the gap while a Head of Tax was appointed. Secondment was then extended to support the new Head of Tax. My main duty was to build a tax function which covered all taxes including corporation tax, employment taxes, VAT, international taxation, share schemes, R&D and capital allowances. I managed professional tax advisors during the audit to deliver the corporation tax computations and tax provisioning work for the statutory accounts including reviewing these workings for all group entities which covered UK, Australia, Hong Kong, US and Singapore. I prepared the group's R&D claim and capital allowance analysis for the UK group companies. My role also covered working closely with the international development team to consider the tax implications of international expansion in Asia, Europe and Africa. I also supported in a number of other tax advisory projects during my secondment.

International Tax Manager - World First secondment April 2016 - December 2016Corporation Tax Assistant ManagerJuly 2015 - December 2016Corporate Tax Senior Associate October 2014 - June 2015I worked as a tax advisor in the London Region National Markets Corporate Tax team. The work undertaken included, but was not limited to M&A due diligence, group reorganisations and simplifications, R&D incentives and transfer pricing. I managed the corporation tax compliance for a large portfolio of companies ensuring that returns were completed in the agreed timeframe and to the highest of standards by our compliance centre of excellence. This included reviewing computations, preparing tax accounting disclosures under UKGAAP and IFRS and managing the process from start to completion. I would spot opportunities for client's to reduce their tax liabilities and to obtain new work for the firm.I also supported our Small Business Accounting division by actively seeking opportunities in the market place. I was the Milton Keynes knowledge champion - this involved arranging technical sessions for the team.

I managed a large portfolio of clients consisting of high net worth individuals, directors, partnerships, companies and trusts.I was responsible for ensuring that work on my allocation was sent out promptly and to our client's expectations. My main compliance duties included the preparation of self assessment tax returns for individuals, partnerships and trusts; corporation tax returns for individual companies as well as large groups and also payment reminders and calculations of quarterly instalment payments. I also annually took responsibility of the preparation and submission of forms P11D for a large number of companies.Reporting to the tax director allowed me to participate in a large amount of advisory work which covered international group planning, hive-downs, profit extraction from a company, transfer pricing reporting as well as ad hoc projects.My role was very client focused and I participated in a large number of client meetings. I also actively obtained new clients on a regular basis. I was the Alphatax champion for the Milton Keynes and Northampton offices, which involved training and problem solving of the corporation tax software. I also wrote software reports to aid my colleagues on a day to day basis. I supported the junior members of my team with their progression and any problems they had.

Postgraduate Academic TutorSeptember 2011 - August 2012Student Mentor June 2010 - May 2011After graduating I was fortunate to become a Postgraduate Academic Tutor. This involved tutoring undergraduate accounting and finance students in lectures, seminars and one to one study classes. Areas that I covered were taxation, financial reporting and financial management. I participated in marking examination scripts for the taxation examinations for second year students. I also gave advice and support to students with their dissertations.Mentored international top up students on the accounting and finance course, and supported them with the transition from an international university.
