Electrical/ICA engineer with over 40 years experience within the water industry, including project engineering, electrical site supervisor and commissioning engineer.My first position in the industry was as an apprentice electrician for North West Water, where I won two apprentice of the year awards whilst attending Burnley college to HNC level.After my apprenticeship, I was chosen to trial the flexi skilling program, where I trained as an Instrument Technician.Shortly after I was given the extra responsibility of maintaining the PLC's and Telemetry systems in the east region of United Utilities.In 2002 I left United Utilities to take up a project engineering position with TJ Brents, Working on small projects up to £150,000In 2003 I joined HMB as a project/commissioning engineer on contracts up to £19M, where I covered the evaluation of scope books to assist United Utilities framework PLC system integrator to develop functional design statements. I continued on the projects to oversee the electrical and instrumentation contractors on site, together with panel manufacturers design, FAT and SAT tests. To fully test and commission all instrumentation and drives to ensure compliance to United Utilities standards. Responsible for all site documentation, including training plans and completion documentation. I next joined KMI as a site supervisor and commissioning engineer on projects up to £36M, where I supervised the installation of all electrical equipment on site- including HV, Profibus networks and instrumentation, I was responsible for all required Permits and ensure ATEX compliancy. Again my role was to fully test and commission all instrumentation and drives and assist to take the projects through to completion with all relevant documentation.
