Responsibility for two wholetime stations with a number of specialist skills and over 100 operational personnel. Covering the area of Dundee West within Perth, Kinross, Angus and Dundee. Reporting to four Local Community Planning Partnership wards providing a ward area update on SFRS activity. Regular reporting on Station Plan and Local Area plans to Senior Management. Involved in partnership working and also planning and arranging of multi agency exercises with emergency responders and the Local Regional Partnership. Representative for the area on a number of National projects also.I play a key middle management role and require to demonstrate strong leadership and management skills, whilst being proactive in delivering the on-going changes within the organisation.Qualified to Incident Command Level 2 for managing operational incidents, I have been Incident Commander (IC) at a variety of challenging incidents and most recently a large scale disused furniture store which required twelve pumping appliances and a number of specialist appliances. I was also IC at a recent water rescue incident working closely with the Coastguard, RNLI, Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service.

I have responsibility for and I am the lead planner for all events in PKAD, most notably the T in the Park festival. This involves working with event organisers, partner agencies, retained and wholetime personnel, control staff and other stakeholders. I had to scrutinise the event debriefs from last year from our stakeholders and put together a more robust Operational Plan for this year for SFRS. This has involved information gathering, partnership working, table top exercises and then briefing all SFRS staff likely to be involved from control staff, operational crews and managers working in the Joint Operating Control Centre. I have facilitated partner agencies preparations by participating in their table top exercises and providing a Fire Service perspective on incidents raised.My role also involves representing SFRS at Local Resilience Partnership meetings (LRP). This was particularly challenging and informative during the Storm Frank period. I feel I have benefitted from this and developed an appreciation of the differing requirements and priorities of all agencies involved and with strong working relationships and effective communications then any potential barriers can be overcome.I am also responsible for the SFRS Community Asset Register and liaising with our community volunteer groups and to enhance community resilience. This has been a particularly challenging project ensuring that relevant information is gathered and Minutes of Agreement are drawn up to support volunteer groups in an emergency situation. I am also the Business Manager for the Scottish Wildfire Users Group and Tactical Ventilation Implementation Group. My work within Emergency Planning and Civil Contingencies entailed planning and preparing for all forms of emergency. Excellent communication skills dealing with many different groups and individuals from the general public to Senior Managers. Qualified at A1 SVQ level to assess and develop trainee firefighters.

This is achieved by planning their work taking cognisance of their development needs. I utilise various assessment techniques to ensure their performance aligns with the prescribed standards. I regularly provide feedback and support to maintain the development of all watch personnel.

Training Instructor in Working at Height, Fire Behaviour, Road Traffic Collision Rescues, Breathing Apparatus and Firefighter Core Skills such as pumps/ladders/knots and lines. Also ran courses for retained and volunteer candidates in the above skills.Developing, reviewing and presenting a number of wide and varied training packages to all employees of the organisation, from trainees to Senior Management. Involved in risk assessments of off-station exercise sites. Was a member of a number of working groups for the introduction of new skills and practices into the organisation.
