Midas Networks provides colocation, hosting and IT support services for the SMB market. As CTO, I look for ways to bring the efficiencies of enterprise IT to our customers without bringing in the costs.

Start-up CLEC serving off-campus university students. Responsible for day to day network management and operations. Led team to deploy open source network monitoring and management, integration of authentication with billing, and first deployment of BGP multihoming.

Work with additional customers and SEs to help resolve higher-level issues. Administrative duties included working on performance reviews, developing training plans, and reviewing expense reports.

Supporting sales teams in MCI, Worldcom, GTE/Verizon, and ConnectSouth to deploy products and services based on Paradyne frame relay management and DSL gear.

Lab Engineer with the MCI Developer's Lab, specializing in ATM, frame relay, and SMDS applications testing. Worked with customers to develop and execute test plans to prove data communications equipment and services were suitable for the customers' applications. Configured Cisco and Bay Networks routers, Fore ATM switches, various FRADs, Ethernet/Fast.

Taught classes to MCI personnel and customers on frame relay, SMDS, ATM, and LAN protocols and troubleshooting. Also taught and updated classes on PC configuration and diagnostics. Learned to install and configure Bay Networks and Cisco routers, channel banks, and other LAN/WAN communications equipment.

Taught OpenConnect Systems' customers and systems engineers how to use, install, configure, and maintain OCS hardware and software. Developed and began implementing a plan to provide technical certifications for customer support and field personnel. Managed the company's Macintosh network. Updated and created new documentation for UNIX, MVS, VM, and AS/400.
