After graduation from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, University of Dundee, the Hugh Martin Partnership offered me an excellent Architectural grounding, working from small refurbishment and intervention projects, like the Leith School of Art, through to major commercial City-Centre developments in Edinburgh and Glasgow. They provided the valuable mentorship required to secure RIBA stage III, and become an ARB registered Architect. As a small practice punching above its weight, HMP allowed me the opportunity to work across all stages of design, with Client-facing opportunities from day one.

Traditional Japanese Construction firm.A rare experience to work alongside traditional Japanese craftsmen, working both with traditional tools and materials, and in more modern concrete and steel, in both Osaka and Ise Prefecture.The role included remedial works and safety interventions in Kobe following the Great Hanshin Earthquake in January 1995.

I experienced first hand the Architectural Design Process. Being a small practice gave me the opportunity to follow and assist with tasks across the spectrum, from meeting Clients, Conceptual Work, through to Tender documents, and Construction Site visits.
