I currently work at Brookvale Groby Learning as an Assistant Head Teacher where I lead on Teaching and Learning and work closely with our Head of P16 supporting provision at KS5. I started at BGLC in 2010 and have been fortunate to have had many opportunities to develop my career. I have been the Faculty Leader for MFL and subsequently an expanded Faculty of Languages, Business and Computer Studies. I have completed a secondment to SLT as well as my NPQSL. Having been promoted to Assistant Head, I have become an Evidence Lead in Education (ELE) with the Kyra Research School where I work with schools and colleagues in the region delivering CPD based on best available educational evidence about teaching and learning. This current academic year I have the pleasure of being a part of the Exemplary Leadership Programme, looking at developments in the leadership of Behaviour, Curriculum and Knowledge-rich schools. To add to my experience, I volunteer as a Governor at a primary school in Leicestershire, attending regular meetings. I am the link governor for SEND, Curriculum developments and this year I will be jointly overseeing the Head Teachers' Performance Management.Before my time at BGLC, I worked at Crown Hills Community College in inner city Leicester where I taught French (with a touch of German, Science and Wider Key Skills.) In addition to being a relatively new teacher, I was able to get a taste of leadership, organising school trips to France and leading the school's involvement in the Fair Trade programme for schools.My initial entry into education came in 2004 where I taught English in China to students aged between 4-18. The six-month spell sparked a love for teaching and working with young people, leaving an indelible impression on me.
