I am a passionate Building and Engineering Professional having spent over 22 years in high-tech engineering environments including aerospace and automotive sectors. I have been privileged to work within forward-thinking aerospace and automotive engineering environments and have held positions as a Tool and Diemaking tradesman through to supervisory and management roles as well as positions in planning and production engineering including CADCAM and multi-axis CNC machining.Using my construction and property knowledge gained whilst concurrently working in engineering on private refurbishment projects, I successfully changed career path in 2001 to encompass property management for a private contractor to the Home Office and later took up a post in 2007 in regulatory duties as a Local Authority Housing Standards Officer. My knowledge of Landlord and Tenant Law in the private sector housing arena is extensive including housing standards for single dwellings through to the more complex HMO's whether properly or poorly converted. I excel in the application of the differing standards that surround the sector in conjunction with other legislative tools such as the Housing Act 2004 including its HMO's standards and regulations, HHSRS, the Housing Act 1985, the Defective Premises Act and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. I have a sound knowledge of building pathology, defects, causes and remedies for damp and mould and how they interact with location, occupancy and usage.I'm a time served Toolmaker and hold a BTEC Level 5 HNC in Mechanical and Production Engineering, various mechanical craft certificates for Toolmaking and fitting, Supervisory Management and ILM5 Leadership and Management diplomas. Since changing careers I have successfully studied and achieved a RICS accredited BSc(Hons) Building Surveying degree, DipDEA/GDA in Domestic Energy Assessing and Green Deal Advice and the National Federation of Property Professionals (NFoPP) or Property Mark as its now known, Level 3 Technical Awards in Residential Letting and Property Management (MARLA), the Sale of Residential Property (MNAEA), Residential Inventory Management (MARLA Inv) and the CIPFA Professional Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist (PACFS) qualification.
