Profile bio

About Chris Erler

I still remember the time I looked down at my uniform and said “I’ll never be an officer!” Little did I know what my future had waiting for me. So after 7 years as an enlisted Soldier and two back to back deployments to Iraq, I thought I hung my uniform up for good. So I began college and after a few years of kicking the bucket down the road, I decided the best decision for my family was to go back into the Army as an officer which is known as “going over to the dark side” in the Army. And this is where my Army journey picked back up and is coming to its end in 2023. The Army made it possible to experience and encounter so many cultures and countries most of the Western world would never visit and I believe it made me a more rounded person. But the best thing about my journey, besides meeting my wife and having four boys aka “crumb-snatchers,” are the Soldiers and leaders I’ve served along these years that directly impacted me into who I am today. Is my experience the best to ever happen to anyone? No, but it is the best thing that happened to me and I will always be grateful for those that came across my journey. Now I begin a new journey into a new career, why, because that’s what the wifey said I had to do and I don’t want to make her mad 😉Gallup Strengths(Positivity, Belief, Developer, Relator, Includer)I have a reputation for being optimistic and my enthusiasm infuses energy into teammates I interact with. Connecting with people on an individual basis is important and I value overcoming difficult and challenging experiences that build stronger bonds with people. I enjoy supporting others in their development and success is the priceless gift of fulfillment for me. Being highly self aware makes it easy to be honest and open about myself, to include admitting shortfalls and mistakes. “Teamwork makes the dreamwork” is more than just a catchy phrase to me. Its through each person's unique skill set and experiences brought together as a team is where success is truly achieved. No one is more important than another.

Program Management | Planner | Operations | Healthcare Administrator | Getting You To The Solution While Making It Enjoyable

Washington Dc-Baltimore Area

Intelligence Analyst

Fort Detrick, Maryland

TS/SCI w/CI Poly. I am an all-source analyst covering the Indo-Pacific region focusing on foreign medical capabilities and produced intelligence products for senior DoD clients, policy makers, and other key stakeholders. I was directly involved in producing intelligence products throughout the entire COVID-19 pandemic. As the nation shutdown, we went into overdrive production that directly impacted decisions at the highest levels of government. The hours were long but the once in a century experience made it all worth it.

Oct 2018 - Oct 2023

Regional Talent Acquisition Manager

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States

I supervised and led 25 recruiters at five Medical Recruiting Centers, across three states, covering 93,000 square miles to recruit qualified healthcare professionals. The task is a continuous, ongoing cycle requiring forward projecting planning and coordination in order to meet specific applicant panel deadlines. I maintained and developed contact and rapport with all community stakeholders as recruiting is a people business and interpersonal communication skills are a necessity. After two years of hard work, my unit was recognized by the Regional Headquarters as the Top Recruiting Company in FY 2018 over 15 other units.

Jul 2016 - Jul 2018

Manager Of Operations

Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, United States

I was dual hatted in this position as the Manager of Operations and the Intelligence Officer for the Army’s only deployable theater level validation laboratory unit. It is a small unit but consists of highly specialized medical personnel and I was responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the units’ training that resulted in maintaining our “Prepare to Deploy Order” mission. I was responsible for updating and executing tasks to two different higher headquarters. My biggest accomplishment in this position was preparing and deploying the unit to Liberia in support of the Ebola outbreak in 2014. I was the unit's single point of contact that interacted with a Division staff of over 100 people. I successfully conducted laboratory site location surveys, coordinated logistical and life support services, created and submitted site funding requests that ultimately resulted in the deployment of four Ebola testing sites across Liberia. When our objectives were complete, I coordinated the redeployment of all personnel and equipment from their laboratory sites across Liberia. This deployment was one of the greatest challenges in my military career. It pushed me beyond what I thought I could accomplish by myself, launched me past my comfort zone, and developed many professional attributes.

May 2014 - Jun 2016

Senior Medical Operations Manager

Fort Hood, Texas, United States

This was a temporary position as I just finished my time as Senior Manager and before leaving for my continued military professional development school. I was responsible for tracking the medical status for over 1,000 personnel and briefed the Director the medical status for each unit.

Sep 2013 - Jan 2014

Senior Manager

Fort Hood, Texas, United States

I supervised the training and welfare of 99 Soldiers across five different sections with numerous tasks and changes occurring. I inventoried and assumed responsibility for over $26M+ of equipment and vehicles while tracking the medical status and training of 200 Soldiers preparing to deploy to the Middle East in a two month period. Next, we had to move our headquarters to another location and I maintained accountability of all equipment with zero losses. I was tasked with supporting the security of the installation for a 3-month rotation 24 hours a day and developed a rotation schedule that best minimized the time of separation for families while accomplishing the unit's task. This leadership role finished with receiving and inventorying equipment returning from the Middle East and then successfully transitioning all equipment and responsibilities to the incoming Senior Manager.

Sep 2012 - Sep 2013

Medical Operations Manager And Department Supervisor

Fort Hood, Texas, United States

I supervised a 42 medical personnel section that supported an organization for 550 personnel across five different units and responsible for equipment valued over $12M+. I ensured all training events had a medical support plan with medical personnel on-site and evacuation routes planned. I simultaneously served on the organization staff where I tracked the medical status, readiness, training, and medical treatment for the organization. My biggest achievement in this position was ensuring 500 personnel in the organization were medically prepared and available to deploy to the Middle East. Moreover, I ensured my medical section received the necessary training prior to deploying and ensured all medical treatment sets were fully inventoried and stocked. Throughout the deployment, I developed medical support plans for every patrol, our containment area, and forward operating station and communicated this to all key stakeholders throughout our deployment.
