With the move from local to functional company structure I assumed responsibility for BeNeLux Logistics sourcing and network design in addition to my current UK and Southern Ireland purchasing and network design responsibilities.In May2011 I assumed responsibility for Finished Vehicle Quality and also the Freight Audit activity for both Finished Vehicle and Material services.On taking over the responsibility for Freight Audit I developed over the period a variety of standard reports and simplified checking tools for the purpose of improving the function of invoice checking. Standard reports were developed for Finished Vehicle activities such as compound, shipping and retailer delivery. On material movements individual checking tools were developed for both full load and groupage material movements. Through these reports and checking tools we reduced the number of invoices and improved the percentage of individual movements audited together with improved timeliness of invoice approvals.

The nett result of the study included: the number of contracted carriers reduced from 8 to 4 providing improved service levels to our Retailers, reduced empty carrier mileage, improved load factor, improved networking for the carriers return at the same time as reducing Logistics costs to the company. 2) Total review of the vehicle storage concept for Vauxhall resulting in change of routing for import vehicles for the UK market including introduction of mainland European compound and increased ports of entries into the UK. Logistics Finance/Budget. Development of Departmental budget for Vehicle movements including average cost per car by model and vehicle route. Monthly reviews maintained to monitor and track actual spend against budget.Process Engineering – Introduction of new group to evaluate areas for continuation improvement and identification/ removal of waste. A new function within the Logistics group requiring ongoing liaison and workshop facilitation with contracted suppliers. Major project included the full flow mapping of vehicles ex Spain to the UK retailers. Workshops arranged and managed including all Logistics partners on route to review total flow and remove any non-value added activities. This project produced minor savings but reduced lead-time by approx 1.5 days and reduced vehicle handling improving final delivery quality.Audit Activities- Monitored application of ILM within the department to comply with GM requirements.
