I also manage our on-line shop dealing with stock levels and looking after customer queries.My main enjoyment with running a business of this nature is the accounting side. I have a diverse experience with spreadsheets and use facilities such as Mail Chimp and Insightly. This is a family run business built upon the idea of making ice cream with the left over milk from a herd of cows when milk quotas came in. From this it was diversified into a tea room in one of the buildings that was based on the farm.When I first joined the team after leaving college I came up with the idea that we could expand into the milking parlour because the cows had since been sold and their was no use for this building in its current state. From this it was diversified into a tea room in one of the buildings that was based on the farm.When I first joined the team after leaving college I came up with the idea that we could expand into the milking parlour because the cows had since been sold and their was no use for this building in its current state. I gained £200k funding from Defra and managed to gain planning permission and managed the project with the builders until it was completed in 2005.My responsibilities then changed I worked upon the wholesale side of selling the ice cream, customer that I gained were local retailers such as farm shops and children's theme parks to bigger outlets such as ASDA. I have also secured contracts with wholesalers such as Holdsworths and increased sales through their contacts.As this company expanded I gained experience implementing SAGE and using other computer programs to record the information needed to run the business. I successfully ran the accounting department and managed the stock throughout the year so that up to 30 flavours were available in each size tub for local and national customers. Show less
