Design and conduct experiments in support of advancing the utilization of drain water heat recovery systems in residential buildings.Conducted a feasibility study for drain water heat recovery in homes across the US taking into account: occupancy, geographical location, building type and more.Created a testing apparatus to collect and validate performance data of existing commercially available heat exchangers. Developed an empirical model of the performance of those tested, and identified significant factors that affect performance.Designed and modeled a novel heat exchanger for the horizontal application. The new design was built, tested, and validated with the computer model.
