My Manufacturing Engineer role had expanded to include the process end of the business area. Understanding of the DCS, PID controllers, and overall process control had been my focus. Multiple hats were worn: project manager/implementer, MOC champion, lean manufacturing asset, capital coordinator, troubleshooting lead. Fluent in VB, I developed an up-time software program for correct downtime targets of our process equipment by linking our PLC and production server data. Using this software helped in understanding continuous problem areas of equipment. Multiple projects were completed using the loss/downtime data collected, which increased TEEP/OEE (Uptime) by 3%.

Packaging end of the business unit, as a Manufacturing Engineer, I worked with floor operators, OPS, and the PLC group, to create and implement projects to solutions with the goal to eliminate machine downtime, or product loss problems. These upgraded solutions helped increase area performance by 12% in efficiency over a 2 year period. A previous multi-year (5 year), multiple project set, increased area first grade production, and throughput by reducing production lost by both weight and defect losses from an average of 70% first pass, to over 95% first pass.

Through the R&D group within, I was the project mananger for several projects at 3 different DuPont facilities. Traveled to Ohio and South Carolina on a monthly basis to push projects to completion. At any one time I had up to 20 concurrent projects. While working in this company, I recieved both my DMIAC and DMADV Six Sigma Green Belt certifications.

Process manager for 40 operators running a PET stentor line. Managed as product wheel scheduler, Project engineer, HR resource, RCFA lead for production losses and improvements. Worked closely with the engineering group to increase production, while maintaining a safe work area for my team.

Performed mechanical reliability duties for the Hopewell DTF film plant. Started the PSM program following DuPont standards on hoses. Acted as leason between VA State Boiler inspector group, and the site inspection program for pressure vessels.

Performed as a 'call on me' Mechanical Engineer under a group of highly skilled Rail dynamics engineers. I was involved in such projects as 'Drive By Bearing checks', Bombardier ACELA train wheel profiles and calculations. Initiated and developed a quick Excel/VBA program to analyze the wheel profiles--which used to take up to an hour per profile, dropped the time down to less than 5 minutes.

Maintained all equipment (pumps, tanks, nitrogen supply, HVAC, steam turbines) that operated four steam boilers that each supplied 900lb/hr of LP steam to 3 correctional facilities. Each facility required MTHW, chill water, and steam to operate for the 2,800 inmates within.
