- Project planning and management as required. - Provide surveying services for underground and surface. - Check mine ventilation systems and measure air flows and quality by performing various methods of testing. - Prepare mine maps, reports and record data to be used for ore reserve calculations, mine planning, geological mapping and other important information. - Underground on a weekly basis to survey face outlines mined previously, install survey controls, and check floor elevations for the Mine Department. Ventilation fans and duct into development areas are checked routinely and maps updated with any changes to air flow and fan locations. - Air quality and ventilation requirements checked to achieve NO and CO levels within the standard TLV's. - Exhaust gas testing on the diesel powered mine vehicles is performed on a monthly basis as required by the Nova Scotia Department of Labour. - The mine surveying and ventilation information is plotted on mine maps and copies of the updated maps are issued every month to the Mine Department and other departments.

Mcarthur River Operation

As a member of the Mine Engineering Team at Cameco's McArthur River Operation, my role is to assist the Engineers and Technicians in areas of mine ventilation, ground control, and surveying. The mining methods used at McArthur River include ground freezing, raise boring, and longhole blasting. Combined with my previous experience at Goldcorp's Musselwhite Mine, this current workterm is an excellent addition to the experience and skill sets that I have been developing throughout my education.

Musselwhite Mine

Working in the Engineering Department at Goldcorp's Musselwhite Mine. My role is as a student engineer with the Mine Planners. My daily tasks include production tracking and analysis, preparing and issuing development and production designs, inspecting underground work for conformance to design and standards, as well as any other tasks I am able to complete that will contribute to the output of the department. Everyday I am learning something new and I am very excited to have the opportunity to gain such valuable experience within my chosen field.

Musselwhite Mine

A student term as an Underground Helper. My daily activities include assisting the various underground mining crews (e.g. Logistics, Development, Production) with their tasks. My role requires me to work a two-week, fly-in/fly-out rotation. I am gaining valuable experience in the mining industry which will serve to progress my education and skills as a Mining Engineer.
