Prof. Chris Creevey is a Computational Biologist interested in understanding the genomic factors influencing phenotypic changes in organisms from Bacteria to Eukaryotes and their interactions with each other and their environment. He leads a research group in Queens University Belfast that utilises and develops tools for the analysis of transcriptomic, metagenomic, metataxonomic and phylogenomic data. More information about the group can be found at http://www.creeveylab.org Chris received his Ph.D. in 2002 from the National University of Ireland for his work in the area of phylogenetics and comparative genomics. Following this he worked as a postdoctoral researcher for the McInerney Lab in NUI Maynooth developing methods of reconstructing supertrees and detecting horizontal gene transfer (HGT) in genomic data. In 2005 he became a postdoctoral researcher in the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany where the focus of his research involved the reconstruction of the tree of life, and the use of metagenomic and expressed sequence tag (EST) data for the phylogenetic analyses. In 2009 he became a Science Foundation Ireland, Stokes Lecturer at Teagasc, Ireland where his group worked on identifying the genomic factors influencing phenotypic changes in organisms from Bacteria to Eukaryotes. From 2013 to 2018 he was a Reader in Rumen System Biology at the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences, Aberystwyth University in Wales. He started his current position in June 2018.Google Scholar: http://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=7JkjEd4AAAAJ
