Chris qualified as UK Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) in London, UK in 1985. Prior to retirement from Deloitte Malta effective from 1 June 2024, Chris joined the International Tax Department of Deloitte Malta in 2005 as Director and Partner, following the merger of the audit and accounting firm Curmi, Paris, Scicluna & Co with Deloitte Malta effective from 1 January 2005. Chris was one of the founder partners of Curmi, Paris, Scicluna & Co and headed the firm’s international tax practice. Since 1990, Chris has specialised in International Tax planning and has advised clients on tax issues in respect of various cross-border structures including Cross-Border transaction tax issues, corporate reorganisations, Holding and International Trading Structures; and Expatriate Taxation in Malta. He also advises Family Offices on corporate governance and succession planning and is currently an Independent Non-Executive Director on a global Single Family Office having advised the Family for over 30 years across 3 generations.Prior to relocating to Malta from the UK in 1986, Chris worked with Coopers & Lybrand in London within their Assurance division working on a wide spectrum of audit clients. Between 1987 and 1989, Chris worked with Coopers & Lybrand, Malta and was also seconded to Coopers & Lybrand, Turin, Italy on assurance assignments. Chris is a Council Member of the Malta Institute of Financial Services Practitioners and Chair of the Tax & EU Affairs sub-committee; a founder member and Chair of the Malta branch of the International Fiscal Association and a member of the Society of Estate and Trust Practitioners (STEP). He has also lectured on international taxation at various local and international fora and has contributed to publications of the International Tax Planning Association; STEP and IFA Malta Branch as Malta jurisdiction rapporteur.Passionate about Aviation and actively follows the aviation industry and Malta Aviation sector.
