Chris is Chief Executive of Unlimited Potential, a democratically-controlled social enterprise based in Salford that specialises in social innovation for happiness and health. Unlimited Potential was the first organisation in northern England to gain the national Social Enterprise Mark and holds the Investors in People standard and the Fair Tax Mark. It is an accredited Living Wage Employer, and holds both Disability Confident Leader status and Simplyhealth’s Healthy Workplace Award. It won awards at the national Living Wage Champion Awards in 2018 and 2019.The Society won the Innovation Award in the Greater Manchester Health and Care Champion Awards 2018. It won Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce's Innovation Award 2011 and the Innovation Award in the Salford Business Awards 2012 and 2015.Unlimited Potential has run innovative projects and services for 15 years to address some of the most challenging social and economic issues, drawing on local people’s strengths. Chris has set up, and supported local people to set up, many social enterprises. He is a Fellow of the School for Social Entrepreneurs and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. A trained social anthropologist, Chris is Chair of the Greater Manchester Social Enterprise Network, an Assembly Member at the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, and Chair of the Northern Soul network of social enterprises. He is also a member of the Greater Manchester VCSE Leadership Group, the Salford Health and Wellbeing Board, Salford Social Enterprise City and Salford Social Value Alliance. Chris advises or works with several bodies on social entrepreneurship and social innovation.
