As an investment manager with over a decade of experience at Baillie Gifford, I have navigated highly challenging market landscapes to help investors achieve their long-term goals and sought continuous improvement. My financial career began with a solid foundation in equity analysis, and I’ve been dedicated to creating value through diversified, high-quality, strategic stock selection ever since.I currently co-manage the BG International Alpha strategy, a US$17bn fund focused on investing outside the US for mainly American clients. Joining the six-person portfolio construction group was an exciting opportunity, triggered by my strong track record and diverse stock selection, as replacement for a retiring Partner. My individual investment style allows me to drive long-term performance through diverse stock picks, and I am proud to contribute alpha-generating ideas to the group’s portfolios. I helped to overcome hurdles that arose during a challenging period for the team and supported a year of outperformance in 2023.Alongside this role, I co-manage the BG European funds, overseeing portfolios of 40‒50 growth stocks during some intense market fluctuations. I am an advocate for diversification within growth strategies, striving to adapt and deliver strong performance despite market challenges, with a focus on generating new ideas, refining processes and continuous improvement.Throughout my career, I’ve prioritised mentoring and team development, earning the BG Mentoring Prize for my commitment to fostering growth within our team.Building strong relationships with clients is a key part of what I do. I enjoy presenting portfolio performance updates and writing investor reports to keep stakeholders informed and confident in our strategies. Communication is vital in our field, and I strive to make complex information lucid and accessible.I hold a BA (Hons) in Music from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Music, Mind and Brain, as well as CFA Level 1 and the Investment Management Certificate, reflecting my diverse interests. I am always eager to expand my knowledge and skills, so I read widely on investment management and related topics.As I continue to refine my investment approach and adapt to ever-changing market dynamics, I am excited about the future and the opportunities that lie ahead.
