This may sound cliché, but I'm going to write it.I remember the first program I wrote, it was the basic "Hello World", in C#, and it blew my mind.At that time I was a major in Engineering and had doubts about continuing my education. I loved learning about Physics, but when it came to applying what I had learned, I was bored. After researching what my day-to-day work life would look like as an Engineer, I found myself bored again and falling asleep (no offense to any engineering majors out there).I began looking into new fields and registering for classes not related to Engineering. I did this for about a year until taking an "Intro to Computers and Basic Programming" class. The second I began writing my first program, I was in love. It was clean, clear, elegant, and beautiful. Those two basic words, "Hello World" made me feel powerful. Since that day, I have loved every moment of this path.My educational path has equipped me with knowledge about basic programming principles, and an understanding of how data is stored in memory and manipulated for efficiency. I have learned about the basics of programming language syntax across a broad spectrum in order to learn new languages faster. The importance of data structures and basic algorithms was always highlighted and engrained in my brain. Database management was also a useful tool I learned for the backend. So far I have C#, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, VB, x86, SQL, HTML, CSS, and Dart under my belt. I have a basic understanding of Python, but I do intend on learning more.All of this learning boiled down to executing my own software in a Senior Design class. Within that semester, I taught myself a new language (Dart), a new SDK (Flutter), and the basics of cross-platform mobile development using Flutter. I built a mobile wallet and payment system, using the Plaid Link API for bank transfers and QR codes for peer-to-peer transactions. This is the power of passion for learning and loving the work you do and it's only the beginning for me.
