As a junior Captain, I was selected above my peers to serve as the Executive Officer for an Advanced Individual Training Battalion with over 300 permanent party cadre and student load exceeding 1,000 Soldiers. I convincingly led a staff and directed teams to achieve much while usually the junior officer present. Given a complex set of mission requirements within the battalion staff, across five companies and four departments, I never failed to provide executive level products on initial submission. I fostered a partnership with a British counterpart unit from the conceptual phase through utilizing joint, multi-echelon cross training opportunities to operating side-by-side in support of contingency operations in Europe and the Middle East. As the training officer, I developed the road-map to success for the battalion that also increased the operational readiness by 80% as measured by the commander. I facilitated over 20 training events for over 500 Leaders and Soldiers; this, and the planning and execution of a comprehensive leader development program, allowed the battalion to set the training and operational standards for the brigade.

Movements Control Officer / Executive Officer

As a junior lieutenant, I deployed to Afghanistan as the executive officer of a movement control team. While deployed and in addition to my executive officer duties, I was chosen to serve as a contracting officer representative for a logistics contract valued at over $100 million. I provided guidance, technical expertise and contract supervision for over 175 contractors at six facilities. I identified procedural and reporting problems with the contracted system and orchestrated the plan to correct the deficiencies which ultimately saved the Army over $75 million during my tenure. During a month long mission in the Baltic States, supporting logistical support for eight nations, I was selected as the primary point of contact for the combined joint task force commander concerning exercise movements.
